Foam Activation & Rebound Guide

Foam Activation & Rebound Guide

Egg Armor™ Nest Cores and Shielding Pads ship compressed or vacuum-sealed to maximize shipping efficiency and reduce costs — more units per box means lower shipping cost per unit for you. Before your armor is ready for deployment, your foam needs to fully expand and rebound to its rated thickness. Follow these steps before first use.

Step 1 — Unpack Your Armor

  • Carefully open the outer master shipper box

  • Remove the compressed or vacuum-sealed foam components

  • Do not cut or puncture the foam itself — cut only the outer packaging material

  • Your armor will appear flat, thin, or firm immediately after unpacking — this is completely normal. The armor is not yet activated.

Step 2 — Activate & Rebound

Choose one of the following activation methods based on your deployment timeline:

Option A — Natural Rebound (Recommended)

  • Place foam flat on a clean surface at room temperature

  • Allow to rest undisturbed for 12–24 hours

  • Best method for preserving long-term armor integrity

Option B — Warm Room or Indirect Sunlight

  • Place foam in a warm room or area with indirect sunlight

  • Typical activation time: 2–6 hours depending on temperature

  • Rotate occasionally for even expansion

  • Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods

Option C — Clothes Dryer (Fastest Activation)

  • Place foam components alone in a clothes dryer

  • Use LOW heat only

  • Tumble for 3–5 minutes

  • Remove immediately and allow to cool before deployment

  • Do not use high heat. Do not leave unattended.

Step 3 — Confirm Deployment Readiness

Your armor is ready for deployment when:

  • It has returned to its full rated thickness

  • The cells feel soft, flexible, and resilient when gently pressed

  • No hard, flat, or compressed areas remain

Do not deploy foam that has not fully rebounded — compressed foam will not deliver full armor protection.

Step 4 — Deploy Your Kit

Once your armor is fully activated and ready for deployment, assemble your kit per the approved build configuration for your egg type and box height. See the Shipper Size Guide for layer-by-layer assembly instructions.

  • Always load clean, dry eggs

  • Place eggs gently into the Vault Cavities — each egg should seat snugly without force

  • If an egg requires force to seat, verify you are deploying the correct Nest Core for your egg species

  • Stack armor layers per your approved kit configuration

  • Erect your Egg Armor Strongbox to the correct scored height and load your assembled armor system

  • Seal and secure the Strongbox — your shipment is armored and ready for carrier handoff

Storage & Redeployment

  • Nest Cores and Shielding Pads are redeployable when undamaged

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged heat or moisture between deployments

  • Inspect all armor components before each deployment — replace any showing tears, permanent compression, or deformation

Safety & Care

  • Do not microwave foam components

  • Do not expose to open flame or high direct heat

  • Not a toy — keep away from children and animals
